Disney Caves To Criticism Over Sexy Princess Makeover

When the powers to be at Disney Studios decided to give their animated character Merida from the movie “Brave” a makeover, little did they realize that they would face a storm of criticism. Fans were so upset that the new Merida was fashioned to look too sexy that they started a petition demanding that Disney restore the character to its original version that was more girlish. The new “Merida”, featuring a much trimmer waistline, the display of more cleavage, and a more glamorous hairstyle and colorful outfit, went over like a lead balloon with diehard Disney fans.

Merida was recently crowned the 11th Disney princess, but after the public outcry about her too sexy revamp, the new image was pulled from the website and replaced with the original version of the popular redhead.

Disney tried to explain the changes as merely the use of “different art styles” that was meant to commemorate the special occasion of Merida being named an official Disney princess. Brave’s screenwriter, Brenda Chapman, weighed in on the controversial makeover, saying her new appearance was giving a horrible message to young girls, insisting that they should look skinny and sexy in order to be accepted rather than displaying qualities of substance.
