Danica Patrick Hit By Rock At Racing Event, Suffers Concussion
Danica Patrick knows a thing or two about crash and pain.
Thankfully, in this reported incident there was no crash that happened while she was driving on a track in Phoenix.
Instead a rock that flew by on a dirt track happened to hit Danica Patrick on the head on Thursday night, giving her concussions and the obvious experiences of pain that goes along with it, reports USA Today.
“I feel like I have a concussion from last night,” she said, joking. “It’s really sore. It hit me straight in the head. Good thing I had a hat on, or I feel like there would have been blood.”
Also, this time Danica was merely an innocent spectator at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, which we now know can be hazardous to you if you are near a flying rock that comes out of nowhere from a dirt track.
Patrick Tells USA Today she did not believe she had a concussion — “I really felt fine,” she said — and was cleared by the medical staff.
“I told them, I said, ‘I had a headache on Sunday night and on Monday my neck was sore,’ ” and they said, ‘Well, it sounds like it could have been worse and we’re glad you’re OK,’ ” she said.
There may not have been blood involved but the pain was no less real for Danica. Things could have gotten worse if she had not worn her hat. Her fans and supporters were thrilled to know that she was fine and that her injury was not as serious as it could have possibly been.
According to Yahoo News, Patrick did have to undergo some testing after her vicious hit in Phoenix, where the entire side of her car was torn open after a blown right tire sent her into the wall.
“I was able to say my name and where I was born [to safety crews],” she said. “They take your blood pressure, they do like vitals and they ask how you’re feeling and I really felt fine. It’s understandable that my neck would be sore. The medical staff always does a checkup the next day, they either call or send you a text to ask how you’re doing … I said I had a headache on Sunday night and on Monday my neck was sore. They said, ‘It sounded like it could have been worse, so we’re glad you’re okay.’
Patrick became the first woman to win a pole and lead green-flag laps at the Daytona 500 last month, finishing eighth.
