Dubai maid confesses to killing baby to get holiday
Al Qusais, Dubai – This large city boasts a number of facilities to foreign workers from schools for British, Australian, American, and Indian children and numerous Western-style shopping areas. Working and living in the area is a privilege, but that experience has turned tragic for one Indian couple in the 30s. Their maid has been arrested for suffocating their baby to death. The maid’s motive was to clear the obstruction for her to take a vacation in her native homeland. Her employers had previously denied her request.
The maid very nearly got away with the murder because the grieving parents thought the death was from natural causes like Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Thankfully, they listened to relatives who insisted on an autopsy. The results concluded the death was by suffocation. Upon being interrogated, the maid confessed to placing a wet towel on the baby’s face and denying it oxygen. In her anger over being denied vacation on a job she only possessed for five months, she said she believed the child’s death would clear the way for her to enjoy some time off. The grieving mother said she was simply unable to get time off work and accomodate the maid’s desire for time off.
