Honey Boo Boo Moves Cookie Sale to Mall

After being criticized for posting a banner on her Facebook page promoting Girl Scout Cookie sales when she herself is not a Girl Scout, TLC reality star Honey Boo Boo moved her promotional campaign to help a friend to the local mall.

Alana Thompson, aka “Honey Boo Boo“, set up a table at Georgia’s Milledgeville Mall, and was photographed in front of the sales table holding up a hand-printed sign advertising the popular fund-raising cookies for sale at $3.50 per box.

June Shannon, Honey Boo Boo’s mom, defended her 7-year-old daughter’s right to be involved in cookie sales even though she is not officially a member of any local Girl Scout troup.

She told reporters that both she and Honey Boo Boo have helped a friend of the family who is a Girl Scout with their cookie sales since 2010 and have been very careful to observe all of the sales rules established by the scouting organization.

“What we felt was inappropriate is that it appeared that Honey Boo Boo herself was selling the cookies, and she’s not a Girl Scout,” Debbie Caballero, a marketing and communications officer for the Girls Scouts of Historic Georgia, told ABC News Radio last week.
