Broadway Star Unemployed For 3 Years Following Weight Loss

In a story which may unfortunately discourage obese members of the entertainment industry from taking the time and effort to slim down, Broadway star Jennifer Holiday says that she was unemployed for three years following a drastic loss of weight.

According to a report filed on MSN Entertainment, Jennifer Holiday found herself in a serious career skid after she slimmed down from her previous weight of nearly 400 pounds. After tipping the scales at that remarkably unsafe weight while starring in the Broadway production of “Dreamgirls”, Holiday realized that she desperately needed to get healthy again.

Holiday has this to say about her experiences following her loss of nearly 250 pounds: “Unfortunately when I lost the weight, there were three years when I couldn’t work because nobody wanted the new me, so I decided that I liked the new me and I just went without work for a while.”

Instead of trying to please critics and finicky Broadway casting agents, Holiday instead returned to her first love: pop and R&B music. She has recorded a new album entitled, “The Song Is You”, her first pop music release since 1991’s “I’m On Your Side”. The album will be released shortly.
