Strong Reception for Kelly Clarkson’s First Christmas Special

ABC became the favorite US network for celebrities and fans of Kelly Clarkson on Dec 11th as the singer took over the network with her first Christmas special. Kelly Clarkson’s Cautionary Christmas Music Tale received a strong Twitter reaction from celebrities and the general public, as the former American Idol winner continued her assault on the Christmas of 2013.

For many viewers the highlight of Clarkson’s Christmas special was the use of live performances of the songs from the singers Christmas album, Wrapped In Red. With a large number of guest stars from the TV and music world the A Christmas Carol inspired special met with positive reviews for the music, but mixed reviews from critics for the humor and acting quality.

Most critics agreed the uneven performances and writing led to an uneven Christmas special, in which the fictional Clarkson was shown the true meaning of Christmas as she performed a series of songs from her new Holiday album. Featuring performances by Trisha Yearwood, Reba McEntire and Blake Shelton, the country inspired Christmas special followed the off beat humor of Blake Shelton’s ill conceived special from 2012. Celebrity fans, including Emma Roberts and Miranda Lambert praised Clarkson on Twitter for her vocal performances.
