Australian actress and Oscar winner Nicole Kidman will portray an American actress who became royalty when she stars as Grade Kelly in the upcoming biopic, “Grace of Monaco”.
The film, which is being directed by Oliver Dahan and set for release in 2014, focuses primarily on a 1962 tax dispute incident between France and Monaco, where Grace became a Princess after marrying Prince Ranier and abandoning her Hollywood acting career, reports the Guardian.
Although the first pictures recently released show Kidman with the royal bearing and slicked-back hairstyle of the popular Princess Grace, her three children have already issued a formal statement denouncing the movie as not having any basis in reality and having no input whatsoever from Grace’s children, Prince Albert, Princess Caroline and Princess Stephanie.
Kidman has not responded to the royal criticism, insisting that her portrayal of Grace Kelly will be a respectful tribute to the Philadelphia native who left Hollywood to become a real life Princess.
