Metta World Peace Posts “Selfie” of Himself and Girlfriend

A recent selfie taken by a veteran NBA superstar has the social media world abuzz. New York Knicks star Metta World Peace posted a picture of himself and a woman presumed to be his girlfriend on his Twitter account. The picture is titled “Colgate” and features Metta and his girlfriend posing in bed with wide smiles on their faces.

Colgate is a major toothpaste brand, so the caption is presumably in reference to the couple’s bright, pearly white smiles.

The couple looks very happy despite the Knicks’ disappointing season so far. New York enters the weekend with a tepid 10-22 record amid rumors that the team’s star player, Carmelo Anthony, could be traded. Metta World Peace, formerly known as Ron Artest, signed with the Knicks in 2013 after playing several season with the Los Angeles Lakers. He became well known for his defensive acumen on the court and his occasionally eccentric behavior off of it. He legally changed his name in 2011.

The woman in the picture is believed to be Gao XinXin. She and Metta World Peace have reportedly been dating since 2012. While the Knicks appear to be mired in a rebuilding process, Metta’s picture shows that he is staying positive.
