Zurich, Switzerland – authorities are poised to unveil the first “sex boxes” for use by the consenting population.
Prostitution in legal in Switzerland where the government both frowns upon the practice, but acknowledges that the sex trade is something that cannot be eradicated because a sufficient percentage of the population demand it.
Thus, rather than devote efforts to stem the sex trade, the government regulates it. Sadly, that hasn’t reduced the level of crime and violence towards professional prostitutes.
Therefore, the Swiss government has designed garage-style wooden sheds that patrons can drive into and engage in consensual paid sex with a prostitute. It should be noted that as outlandish as it may seem to those with puritanical views on sex, Swiss voters approved the installation of the “sex boxes” in a popular vote.
Therefore, the government does have a mandate to proceed with this obvious social experiment.
The boxes will be equipped with the means for a prostitute to call in for help should they be threatened in any way. Each patron will have to pass through security and there will be security guards attending at the locations.
The operating hours are currently set to be 7:00PM to 5:00AM local time.
The boxes are part of an effort to regulate street prostitution and improve the prostitutes’ working conditions, authorities said.
Located along a clearly marked path, the drive-in structures are for car customers only.
