The first pitch at the start of baseball games is a symbolically important tradition. It gets the crowd excited and officially opens up the game. Baseball has become extremely popular in South Korea where they take the first pitch very seriously. Recently, those lucky few selected for the first throw ceremony are now taking it to an all new level that it setting the bar high for first pitchers in America.One of those given the first pitch honor in South Korea was actress and martial artist Tae Mi. Before throwing the first pitch for the game between the Doosan Bears and SK Wyverns she completed a forward summersault and then seamlessly threw the ball. Back in July, rhythmic gymnast Shin Soo-ji also engaged in an impressive first pitch with a dramatic leg spiral before successfully pitching the ball straight over the home plate.

In a completely opposite display of skill, or lack there of, Carly Rae Jepsen was invited to throw the first pitch recently at the Tampa Bay Rays stadium. The Canadian pop singer’s meager throw did not reach home plate and actually hit a camera. She did not even attempt any exciting flourishes before the throw, but footage of it went viral almost immediately.
