Toronto, Ontario – For what it’s worth, the home where Toronto Mayor Rob Ford allegedly posed for a photograph with suspected drug dealers has been located.

The home resides on Windsor Rd. For right now, Mayor Ford is trying to ride out the political storm by keeping his mouth shut.

Rumors circulated that a video had emerged showing the mayor smoking the illegal drug “crack cocaine”. The men who owned the video wanted 200 grand for the clip and supposedly ran it before reports from the Toronto Star and the large blog site Gawker. Gawker was attempting to raise the cash to buy the video, but that won’t be necessary any more.

The video is gone. Just days ago, an unknown assailant broke into the home on Windsor Rd and attacked the residents with a pipe. It is believed by some in the media that the assailant took the video and fled, but that is unconfirmed. In the absence of the video showing the mayor illegally using drugs, all that remains is him posing next to a drug dealer.

The Current on CBC Radio pulled in a panel to talk about the media’s behavior, including a reporter and a chair of the Ryerson University School of Journalism.

“It’s interesting to me that people believe there is some mass conspiracy between two organizations and three separate people,” Robyn Doolittle, one of two Star reporters who claimed to view the video, was quoted as saying to CBC Toronto.

“It’s fair that people are questioning the things that they’re reading,” she said. “The people who don’t believe it, maybe won’t believe it even when they’re confronted with the video.”

That may be bad company to keep, but is not the commission of any crime. For now, the only statement the mayor has made is to deny any drug use.

Some residents of an Etobicoke neighbourhood can’t believe a now infamous photo of the city’s Mayor with three men, one a murder victim, appears to have been snapped on their street. “This is absolutely impossible,” Nijole Ardavicius, a longtime area resident, said of accusations the bungalow is a crack den frequented by the mayor.
