Zombie Apocalypse Debate In Canadian Parliament
In a dead serious tone, Martin expressed his gratitude to the Centers for Disease Control and the Province of Quebec for working together to fabricate a zombie apocalypse emergency plan. Addressing the Speaker, he then stated, “I don’t need to tell you… [a] Zombie invasion in the United States could easily turn into a continent-wide pandemic if it’s not contained.”
CBC reports, several members listening attentively began laughing. Then Martin asked Minister of Foreign Affairs John Baird to outline his efforts to develop international strategies to prevent a full-blown apocalypse.
Baird played along by assuring the Speaker, his colleagues and fellow Canadians that he’s “dead-i-cated” to preventing a zombie apocalypse and that “Canada will never become a safe haven for zombies.”
Martin’s humor was directed at Quebec’s government for deciding to use a zombie apocalypse as part of its emergency preparedness training protocols. On Thursday, Public Security Minister Stéphane Bergeron, responded to the debate by announcing that a flood scenario will be used instead.
The video was just uploaded to YouTube on Wednesday, and people can’t get enough of it. It’s been viewed more than 160,000 times so far. One commenter summed it up: “This is why Canada is awesome.”
It’s probably too cold for Zombies here anyway.
