iPhone 6 Release Date For Canada Could Be September

iPhone Fingerprint Scanner 2

iPhone Fingerprint ScannerApple Inc. is widely expected to unveil fingerprint scanning technology in its next generation of iPhone smartphone. The Cupertino, California, based company is making hay of consumer expectation ahead of its kick-off meeting Tuesday, September 10 at 10:00 AM PST. The company has sent out numerous invitations to news reporters and media personnel in the hopes of making the biggest impression possible for the debut technology.

Strictly speaking, Apple has not announced that they are unveiling fingerprint scanning technology, but that is the audience expectation which has kept the internet buzzing for weeks.

CultOfMac describes the possible technology:

A newly discovered Apple patent reveals how the iPhone’s redesigned Home button will work as a fingerprint scanner.
It’s widely rumored the iPhone 5S will include a fingerprint scanner built into the Home button. But putting a fingerprint scanner into the Home button presents Apple with a problem. The Home button is used as the primary navigation device. Pressing the Home button quits apps and returns the user to the Home screen. If the fingerprint Home button is used as an authentication device, to conduct a secure online purchase say, the user needs to avoid accidentally pressing it. The last thing they want is to quit the browser and be returned to the Home screen.

According other reports, Taiwanese manufacturer Chipbond has been ordered to provide numerous components for Apples new iPhone.

Inquistr reports some of those chips will “absolutely support a fingerprint scanner.”

The Apple iPhone 5S fingerprint scanner will secure your device to unlock only for you. If that doesn’t make you feel like 007 then I don’t know what will. But this rumor is likely to be reality since last year The Inquisitr reported how Apple bought fingerprint scanner company Authentec.

Other Rumored Specs

A full HD, edge-to-edge screen, measuring at least 4.8-inches

The iPhone 5S appears to be the same size as the iPhone 5, which would be consistent with other “S” upgrades — the iPhone 4 to iPhone 4S, and the 3G to the 3GS before it. Over the weekend, 9to5Mac posted pictures from Tinh te, a Vietnamese website, that purport to show mockups of iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C, the less expensive plastic iPhone Apple is said to be developing.

The Apple A7 processor

It seems more than likely that Apple will use ARM’s big.LITTLE architecture. This allows a processor to have low-power cores that save on battery life, when not much CPU power is required, switching to full-power cores when more intensive tasks are required. Apple’s always been hot on battery life, so this move would make sense, particularly as it’s something that ARM’s really pushing at the moment.

Alleged shots of the new phone have shown the internals of the phone, including an unknown processor. Obviously, you can’t tell specs from a shot of a chip, but a new processor could well mean an A7 chip, which will be used in the iPhone 5S first, before making an appearance in the iPhone 6.

Available in capacities up to 128GB

In terms of storage, Apple has used 64GB has been the top model for a couple of years, so we’d expect the top model to now be 128GB. We know that Apple now has that capacity, thanks to the recent launch of a 128GB iPad 4.

NFC

One of the omissions from the iPhone 5 was NFC, but with the technology starting to appear in most new Android phones, we’d expect this in the in iPhone 6. With Apple pushing its Passbook App, for storing store cards, tickets and coupons, integrating this with NFC would make a lot of sense.

A 12-megapixel front-facing camera

The iPhone 5S will have a 12-megapixel camera, according to an April report from Tinh te, relayed by iPhone in Canada. And last month 9to5 Mac reported that the iPhone 5S camera may also be capable of recording video at 120 frames per second, allowing for slow-motion video.

iOS 7

According to dkd, IOS 7, which was unveiled at the Apple World Wide Developers Conference WWDC) in June is designed by Jony Ive, the system is a big departure from the current version. For starters, the interface and icons have all been completely redesigned with a ‘flatter’ appearance. It’s certainly more modern looking.

Apple Needs A Home run

Apple needs to belt out a home run with the iPhone which has been steadily losing ground to Android-based smart phones most notably, the Samsung Galaxy line of phones. At this point, most financial institutions offering smartphone access to their accounts have applications which run on both IOS (the O/S for iPhones) and Android-based phones.

Both phones are the de facto standard of smartphones on the market. However, fingerprint scanning technology would give Apple a big technological jump over Samsung.

The new generation of iPhones are expected to be called iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C with the latter available in custom-picked colors which consumers will order at wireless phone kiosks and have shipped directly to their residence.
