Lohan Reveals Alcohol Addiction Lead to Drug Abuse

Although actress Lindsay Lohan is still in her 20s, she has already completed six stints at rehabilitation facilities for her addiction to both alcohol and drugs. She admitted to talk show maven Oprah Winfrey that alcohol inspired her to try cocaine and she admits she has lied about the number of times she has used the hard drug. Although Lohan says she admitted to no more than a few experiments with cocaine because she didn’t want people to judge her harshly, her experience with cocaine has actually been as high as 15 times. Lohan said she usually did cocaine at parties where she was also drinking heavily.

Her preferred choice for ingesting the cocaine would be to snort it rather than inject it. Lohan admits that the conditions of her childhood, which she classified as dysfunctional, has also given her an addiction beyond alcohol and drugs, namely an addiction to living in chaos, which explains her constant family battles. Lohan also told Winfrey she is aware that she is an addict, that alcohol is her first drug of choice and that alcohol was merely a gateway drug that enabled her to move on to more dangerous drug choices such as cocaine.

“As long as I stay honest with myself and just do the work that I’m willing to do and have been willing to do and am doing, then there’s nothing that can stand in my way of that. I’m my own worst enemy, and I know that and I’ve been.”

“I haven’t felt the way I feel now in a very long time,” Lindsay said. “I feel whole again. I have such a desire to want to keep this feeling and want to stay this way. I’m willing to do whatever it takes . I really want to be on set again, that’s what feeds me!”
