Singer Katy Perry is very concerned about the string of recent shootings and chronicled them in a Tweet to her fans:

  • Monday: Widener University in Pennsylvania – one student in critical condition after being shot
  • Tuesday: Purdue University – one student shot and killed
  • Friday: South Carolina State University – one student shot and killed
  • Saturday: Columbia, Maryland – a shooter gets three people (including himself) killed at the mall

Perry questions whether anyone else is concerned about danger people face doing what should be seemingly safe endeavors such as attending school, watching a movie, or shopping at the mall. She expressed her own personal fear for her own safely and as reproaches society for its failings as she goes on to demand changes.

Her message is sure to be acted upon by the Obama administration as one of its popular memes of the day. She too spoke out about the 2012 Colorado shooting rampage in a theater airing “The Dark Knight Returns”. Thus far, there has been no significant legislation offered that would actually curtail the types of crimes being committed either because criminals do not abide gun registration laws or the mentally disturbed who get access to guns.
